China on the Go! Let’s take a tour to Beijing
So you have decided to take a tour to China? As China brags of many cities and towns filled with history of ancient civilizations, you probably would be wondering where to go in China. Well, it should not be a very hard decision to make; Beijing should definitely be the first stop over on a planned tour in China.
Beijing, one of the first attractions and most exciting places to visit is located in the North of China. It is the country’s capital which demonstrates most of the country’s cultural heritage. The natives are preparing the beautiful city in anticipation for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. So, the upcoming years will be a perfect time to take a tour to Beijing. Beijing is the home of history in China. It has always represented the place of three important Chinese dynasties over the past 1000 years. Peking duck is one of the most famous dishes in Beijing which many tourists enjoy having as a special cuisine.
A typical tour in Beijing comprises of places like the Forbidden City, the Great Wall of China, the Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, the Ming Tombs as well as the Lama Temple. There are lots of hotels around these cities due to the large number of tourists who visit China. The Beijing Grand Hotel is completely decorated in Chinese style with rooms well furnished with Chinese calligraphies and paintings. As a tourist, you feel more at ease and welcomed into the Chinese culture.
The Forbidden City boasts of the world’s largest public square which is the Tiananmen Square. The Tiananmen Square is synonymously linked to the Chinese cultural revolutions where thousands of Chinese supporters crowded the square during Mao’s reign.
Not forgetting the Summer Palace, a major tourist destination spot located on the outskirts of Beijing, although, much of it is covered by the Kunming Lake. This palace completely demonstrates Chinese architecture, history and garden design. Taking a tour to the Summer Palace, you will see the Long Corridor of the lake which runs for about 2500 feet and ends at the marble boat.
One of China’s most cherished and greatest treasures is the Great Wall which makes the people proud of. This wall was built over 2 millennia by the old Chinese dynasties. It started in 221 BC and was continuously built until the 17th century. The Great Wall of China stretches from almost the center of Asia to the East China Sea. Visiting a part of the Great Wall is a must for any tourist who tours China as it is truly one of the great wonders of the ancient world.
Don’t get too tired as the Ming Tombs is still one of the nicest places to visit in Beijing. These tombs represent the burial grounds of some of the 16 Ming dynasty emperors of China. It has a 7km quiet walkway known as the Spirit Way which leads to the tombs.
As a tourist in Beijing, there’s still so much to see and even after taking a tour in Beijing, places to tour in China includes Tibet, Huangshan commonly known as the Yellow Mountains, Shanghai, Xian and many of the traditional local places. A short tour in China will not be enough to tour all these places, but the experience and adventure
would definitely be worth it.

Â
Bian Capital was very blooming in North Song period,it had rich river lines. Also it was the national traffic center in river and road. Its commerce was the No.1 around the country at that time, its population was more than 1 million. There were lots of bustling streets in Bian City, and the streets had kinds of shops, even the night market. When in festivals,Bian City would be more cheerful. In order to show the bloom in the capital,Zhang Zeduan chose Qingming Festival, this important festival,to have detialis in 59 points.

George Bush plan to kill Barack Obama and Ahmadinejad with 1 Stone

As he sprints to the finnish of the 100 metre dash at the Beijing Olympics, George Bush is about to kill 2 birds, Barack Obama and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with 1 slingshot and 1 stone. Not since St. Paul helped stone Stephen Martyr to death for supporting Jesus Christ has a warrior so forgotten the element of surprise.
The surprise in store for us all is that on November 4, 2008, the United States of America will be at war with Iran for sure, and possibly in the middle of the Apocalypse. Not to mention the epidemic of chapped lips caused by climate change, the bears are now fleeing the forest because of the black flys and the polar bears are now forced to eat their young.
In case you missed the news that 1 billion people are about to starve to death because we are now about to put their food into out gas tanks, you’re welcome.
George Bush will now do his Menachem Begin impersonation and bomb Iran back to the stone ages. As one sixth of the earth’s population goes without food or water today, not 100 years from now, the American people are obsessing over what Michelle Obama meant when she said that for the first time in her life she is really proud to be an American. Americans, not used to honesty from their politicians naturally look at Michelle with skepticism. Not only is John McCain draping himself in the flag on the podium, but he has now switched to Charmin’s Ultra Strong American Flag toilet paper. Which species chops down forests to cleanse themselves? Even monkeys know to use the leaves.
Time is of the essence for George Bush to unleash his permanent radioactive poison upon the Middle East. This is because his term is running out in 6 months, and also because his favorite scapegoat Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s term is running out at the beginning of the new year, and he may lose the upcoming Iranian presidential election. Even with oil at $135 a barrel of monkeys, Mahmoud’s mismanagement of the economy has Iran’s inflation rate at 35%. The American inflation rate is also 35%, but you don’t know it because our leaders removed increases in the price of gasoline, food, toilet paer, rice krispies, and rugelach from the consumer price index.
Our big spending Republican leaders have deflated the true inflation number because when inflation rises, interest rates rise and if the United States is forced into paying 20% interest on the 10 trillion dollars worth of debt (a tax on the children and grandchildren by a different name, without Republicans using the T word) they have run up since Democrat Bill Clinton had the country in a surplus, Hu Jintao and Saudi King Abdullah will own not only your ports and banks, but your house too.
George Bush invaded Iraq to steal the Iraqi oil. Unfortunately, President Bush has handed the oil rich Basra region of southern Iraq to Iran. Foresight is not our President’s strong suit. Therefore, George Bush feels that the only way to capture the Middle East oil now is to conquer Iran. On November 4, 2008, when we go to the polls, we will be at war with Iran, and the choice in many of our primitive racist heads will be whether to vote for a white experienced war hero or a skinny NBA wannabe. Never mind that the war hero got us into this mess and the hoops star warned us not to invade Iraq. Unfortunately the American people have an extremely poor track record, having elected an alcoholic lying deserter twice.
When God of Mount Sinai, aka God the Father, The Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Allah, Yehovah, Elohim carved the rules into stone 3,200 years ago next Friday, he carved that if the people murdered our components, air, water and earth by poisoning them to death, and if we murdered each other and if we lied and stole from each other, that he would punish us and our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The God of Christianity, Islam and Judaism visits the sins of the parents upon the children.
Today we are all paying for the mistakes of George Bush, John McCain and the Republican party, which has still not really discovered global warming. According to John McCain the surge is working. Is he reefering to the surge into Iran? Right now the distinction between John McCain and Barack Obama is that John McCain stands for endless war and Barack Obama stands for peace and ending the Iraq War. How will Barack Obama be able to call for a removal of our troops from Iraq when they are in the middle of a war with Iran and possibly their backers Russia and China?
George Bush is an ardent sports fan, having purchased the Texas Rangers with the backing of the Bin Laden family. This was why the Rangers replaced their baseball caps with Kafiyahs on April 21, 1989. Then commissioner of major league baseball Peter Ueberroth pushed the sale to Bush through before his term as commissioner expired at the end of 1989.
George Bush is going to the Beijing Olympics from August 8 to August 24, 2008. Therefore he will not launch Armageddon before then. The Presidential election is November 4, 2008. Therefore, Iran will be nuked in September or October of this year, and the wind on the one tiny ball named earth will blow the nuclear cloud onto Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Republican Convention is Sept. 1 to Sept. 4, 2008. Will George Bush and John McCain, in their embracing bear hug pose, plaster a picture of the young John McCain, the Brad Pitt war hero lookalike on the screen of the Xcel Energy Center side by side with the video of Jeremiah Wright screaming to the crowd whipped by war fever, “God Damn America for killing innocent people!†Isn’t that what Jesus carved in stone?
Jesus Christ accused people of straining at gnats while swallowing camels whole. Last Sunday at New York’s Carl Icahn Stadium, Jamaican Usain Bolt became the fastest man in the world by breaking the world record in the 100 meter dash by two one hundredths of a second better than the previous record held by his compatriot Asafa Powell. The Mayan Calendar comes to an end on Dec. 21, 2012, at which point our sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in 26,000 years. George Bush said, “When I was growing up I wanted to be Willie Mays. I never dreamed about being President.†Michael Jackson dreamed of being Celine Dion. Martin Luther King had a dream, and it isn’t going to happen without the help of Vladimir Putin, who is calling for sanctions against Iran for enriching uranium for Hamas and Hezbollah as he builds the Iranian nuclear power plant in Bushehr, Iran. Oh what a tangled web we weave, said the spider to the Zohan.
Federer, Nadal Braced for Possible Olympic Power Shift
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will be chasing more than gold at the Beijing Olympics with the coveted world No 1 place suddenly at stake following the Spaniard’s stunning Wimbledon triumph.
Federer has occupied the top spot in the rankings for 232 weeks while Nadal has had to be content with life in the Swiss star’s slipstream for 155 of those.
But the tournament in China could witness the latest dramatic switch in tennis’ balance of power, which seemed impossible just a few weeks ago.
Ahead of the French Open, where Nadal cruised effortlessly to a fourth successive title, the Mallorcan was too busy looking over his shoulder at the imminent danger posed by Novak Djokovic who was poised to take over his No 2 slot.
But after becoming the first man since Bjorn Borg in 1980 to complete the elusive Roland Garros-Wimbledon double, Nadal is now poised to knock Federer off his perch if a complicated series of scenarios work in his favor.
The defining moment could come on the north American hardcourts, in Beijing or at the US Open where Federer is the defending champion.
Either way, the 22-year-old Nadal is eager for the Olympics to get underway.
“To play in the Olympics is very special, because when you’re very young you always see the Olympic Games on television,” said Nadal who’ll be making his singles debut in Beijing having played doubles with Carlos Moya at Athens four years ago.
“You represent your country, that’s the same as the Davis Cup, but at the same time it’s completely different. When I play Davis Cup I always have this big motivation and I think in the Olympics I am going to have the same.”
Despite Nadal’s triumphs at Wimbledon and at Roland Garros, Federer doesn’t take kindly to suggestions that he should be preparing to hand over his No 1 spot to his Spanish rival.
“You write what you want,” he snapped after losing the five-set thriller at the All England Club, his 12th defeat in 18 matches with Nadal.
“I’m going to try and win the Olympics and the US Open and then we can talk again.”
The Federer-Nadal rivalry will be one of the most fascinating at the Games with commercial backers and the game’s rulers licking their lips in anticipation.
If TV viewing figures are any guide, a gold-medal clash between the sport’s heavyweights will be big box office.
In the United Kingdom, more than 13 million viewers watched the culmination of the Wimbledon final, a huge 47.6 percent of the TV audience.
Federer finished fourth at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and was knocked out in round two at Athens by Thomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.

For westerners traveling to Asia, is it better to vacation in China or Japan? – Part 1
Having been to both China and Japan, I am now writing this based on experience. Let me start off by saying I have been to many countries in Asia and all of them have their own perks and negatives. As far as vacationing in China or Japan I have picked Japan simply because I had more fun in Tokyo than in Beijing.
My Journey started off in Camp Fuji, about 2-3 hours west of Tokyo. I was blowing explosives at the base of Mount Fuji, when i looked up to admire the view. My curiosity grabbed me so I filled out the waiver required to climb Mount Fuji when it is off limits. And we started to climb. There were check points along the way and when they are open you can get stamps on your stick to show how far you have been up. The snow at my feet and the mountain above me my troupe and me continued to press the mountain. We wanted nothing more than to be at the top for a few pictures and a victory cheer. Once at the top you are humbled. Looking out to see what is presumably the country side of Japan. In the distance you can see the famous cherry blossom trees. and right next to us hole that is the top of a volcano. After a full hour of relaxing at the top we started our decent. I thought the down was interesting because the whole world seemed to shape around our view. We were almost skiing down the mountain but if felt as if we were actually walking a straight line and the city at the bottom was on another mountain. I made it down the mountain without a hitch. Walking away from the mountain I decided to take another picture (you know those postcards of Japan that show Mount Fuji with the extra side of the volcano sticking out? I actually have that picture on a personal level). The awe mother nature never ceases to amaze me and is what really keeps me going.
The mountain was an amazing experience, Tokyo would prove to be more amazing. The next day waking up in the cold environment reminded me to bundle up. I started out by leaving toward the train station, about a 45 minute walk. Armed with this information I hailed a cab. and the 1000 yen and 7 minute drive was well worth it. I got on the train and went to Shinjuku, then jumped on a bus from there to Tokyo. I was told Rapungi was the place to go if you wanted to get a drink. My source was right. Walking around reminds me of Times Square at New York City. I found the cheapest of hotels, a Government ID card only place called the New Sano right next to the American Embassy and about a 15 minute walk from the “strip”. Tokyo has a certain lure about it. I found most of the people extremely friendly. So I was walking up and down the strip to get a feel for the place when I realized there were more shops and bars in the upper levels of the super tall buildings. The day was exciting and the evening doubly so. if drinking is your thing then there are Irish bars. if dancing is your thing then the Gas Panick is the place for you. There are many places to have fun and unwind. I ended my weekend at Shinjuku where i found myself on the second floor of a dance club listening to Japanese rap music and drinking a beer.
This was just one of my weekends in Tokyo. I lived in Japan for about a year and have had many experiences in different locations in Asia. Japan was the absolute hands down most fun I have had in my life. I was able to do more in Japan than China because the cost of living in China was so much higher and I wasn’t able to do as much.
Disclaimer: I personally believe that a better vacation spot is actually relevant. You can have just as much fun in China as you can in Japan. I had to choose a side and I just happened to have more fun in Japan. I also encourage you to get out and travel.
Travel destinations in China – Part 1

From the standpoint of travel, my trip to China is by far the most memorable. I spent about 12 days visiting the typical venues in Beijing, Xian, Guilin and Shanghai. Scenery, cities, historical points of interest abound in China and the country has obviously undergone dramatic changes in becoming modern and welcoming to tourists. The transportation is more than adequate, the local tour guides are knowledgeable and courteous and the hotels have incredible amenities and serve unbelievable breakfasts buffets that last up to four hours.
One thing that we don’t hear discussed much even as we prepare for a trip to China, is the state of their toilets. The hotels and some restaurants, of course, have Western toilets but in most places today, the toilets are still down on the ground; some of them are made of porcelain but it is still necessary to squat down to use them.
On my tour, it became something of a joke… When we arrived at the Great Wall from Beijing, for example, our tour guide announced while pointing to a building, “5-star western toilets.” On a river trip on the Li river, a tributary of the Yangtze river with some of the most beautiful and unusual scenery I’ve ever seen, one of my fellow travelers who had recently had a hip replacement declared herself unwilling and indeed incapable of using the squatting toilet on the boat.
Many of us would go the entire day without using these facilities, preferring to wait until we returned to our modern hotels. That is no easy feat when you’re gone from 8:30 in the morning until about 5:00 in the afternoon.
Squatting is perilous and might need to be emphasized more to tourists preparing to go to China. Perhaps they might choose to do certain exercises to prepare for this.
Certainly, it is not a criteria to use to judge the country. China’s history of more than five thousand years provides us with much more beauty and tradition to view and learn about. A return trip is definitely in my plans although I will avoid going in 2008 since a large venue such as the summer Olympics doesn’t sound like something I want to be involved in.
China is grand, beautiful and mysterious and I plan on visiting it again soon and often.
Chinese Oil Paintings and Realist Oil Painting
Chinese oil paintings and realist oil painting
Chinese oil paintings since the beginning of the fall, and “realism” and “realist painting” has a natural link, or from a certain sense, the beginning of the period of Chinese oil paintings is the “realist painting.” Chinese oil painting in the way of development, “realism” and “realist painting” has always been associated with it.
Chinese oil paintings and the history of the development of China’s social and cultural development, changes in the history closely linked, it is accompanied by a knowledge of Western and other natural and cultural knowledge to enter China. The starting point for the development of Chinese oil paintings, is well documented from the Ming Dynasty in Ningbo, Zhejiang Jiajingnianjian the Portuguese in the establishment of the Hong Kong Trade Shuangyu base, the painting will bring this art form in China. Later in the Wanlinianjian (European Renaissance painting at this time is an important period in the history of the development), due to religious reasons, the Italian missionary Matteo Ricci to a painting of God, Our Lady of the paintings to China. According to records, the 1610 Tour Wen-hui’s “portrait of Matteo Ricci” has realistic approach, clearly the relationship between brightness, which can be deduced, You Wenhui of China earlier study and practice of European oil paintings. To the Qing Dynasty, many Western missionaries for the court is satisfied that, with the Qing Emperor Kangxi in Beijing between the missionaries and Gongtinghuashi Lang Shining as the representative, he worked in China, the life of 51, after Emperor Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong three dynasties . He used the Western oil painting concepts to the performance of the Chinese characters “Xiangfeirongzhuang map”, opened a real painting with Chinese content of the precedent. Some scholars believe that this also is China’s realist painting “The first map.” The development of early Chinese oil paintings are generally three ways, first missionary to preach the culture, and second, followed by the court to accommodate the culture of painting, and the third is in the cultural and economic exchanges in the “civil painting.” Chinese oil paintings start from the beginning with “realism” style. Some scholars from the Guangdong exported start painting on that Guangdong is the birthplace of Chinese oil paintings, where you can find Chinese realist painting at the initial start of the cultural and artistic works. Some scholars from the Shanghai Museum soil Hill Bay Exploration focus on painting, oil painting that China’s modern master Xu Yong-ching, Ding stunning, ZHOU Xiang, Zhang Hui charge, Zhang Yuguang, such as Ren Bonian, “have received here in Western art education . Territories Bay Hill painting in the Museum, is the court in the northern West painting interrupted,”the Guangzhou coastal export oil painting after painting”in the re-rise of China and Turkey. Although the time across a century, but the history of Shanghai has once again chosen to Western painting East wind of a historic turn for the better, but also laid the future Shanghai will become the basis of a major Chinese oil paintings. “Soil Bay Hill Museum paintings produced sculptures, practice painting, oil painting and home-made paints, specialized manual sketching, realistic atmosphere rich, To become “China’s cradle of Western painting.” Chinese oil painting in the process of development, Transocean Xunmeng, gains Western Modernist painting of the first practice, also gains the Lingqi realist painting, mechanical Moreover, the two can not be separated. “Westernization Movement” to promote Chinese painting in the spread of emerging art education has driven the rise of realism style. The rise of Western painting groups also promote the development of China’s realist painting. Founded in Shanghai in 1915’s “Oriental Art” in the form of groups to promote the spread of Western painting, to promote a scientific attitude to artistic creation, to stand as the main means of painting, drawing Dan Gaoxiang take into account indoor and outdoor paint, and actively promote outdoor Painting, further carry forward the style of realism. After new China was founded, the reality of the revolution consciously become the mainstream of Chinese painting art, artists, “as the keynote optimism to the revolution, depicting the revolutionary war and socialist construction in the history of life thriving scene. Uncertainties, accurate and powerful, many Painter common pursuit of the arts realm. “Realist realistic painting was exceptional conditions have been greatly developed. 1955, the Ministry of Culture decided to organize the Central Academy of Fine Arts oil painting courses, employing Soviet the teaching oil painting. courses taught sketching teaching system, students focus on improving the basis for sketching and modeling capability, that art comes from life, to encourage students observe the life and works of attention to the social function, the requirements reflect the fiery creation of real life, and guide students to Themes and topics of the master plot of concern. There is no doubt that this course actively promote the development of China’s realist painting, after training a group of Chinese oil painting industry active in the backbone. Of course, after training in the arts reflect on this practice, there are experts believe the other hand, sketching their teaching methods “and not a sketch of China’s experience in teaching the integration of China’s sketch of teaching methods and style of the sketch based on a single. “In subsequent years, advocates of revolution and revolutionary realism, the combination of romanticism, political and artistic standard, facing the reality of China through ups and realist painting, distort, to reflect on the years and rational thinking. During a return to the reality of the “native intelligence”, advocated by honest approach to the grim portrait of life, to the performance of simple theme Native revealed living in difficult environment in the people’s heat and warmth of the noble dignity. During a realist painting of China’s serious reflection, in summing up both positive and negative lessons for China on the basis of realistic painting of the new knowledge and new exploration. After the seemingly silent and variables, the Chinese contemporary realist painting is still active, being mature. “This door”origin”in the growing depletion of the art form has been dissolved in Chinese people’s aesthetic habits, renewable pleasing to the Chinese oil paintings. Realist painters who are not in order to make an example, it inadvertently to the contemporary Fufan Art presents a necessary accomplishment: To master a kind of art form, is bound to a long-term extraordinary efforts. ”
Realist painting walked all the way, hastened the birth of modern Western art of the genre, in the time of the birth of Chinese oil paintings, but also a realist deep zone de Patinagem de traces the art of oil painting. Or that Chinese oil paintings come out in time, undoubtedly have the impression of Western painting and after all the art schools affected, but in essence said that the Chinese oil painting at the starting time of the basic characteristics of a “realist painting.” China’s realist painting of Faren and foreign missionaries preaching the culture is closely linked to that of imported Western painting is not only oil paintings, watercolors, copper engraving, and other kinds of painting, the study of Chinese oil paintings of realism started to explore the introduction of Western art, Depend on a variety of types of art painting and its artistic spirit. Chen Duxiu in the “art of revolution – by Lu Zheng,” also said, “the painter must be realistic, and be able to play to their talent, painting their paintings, ancient Kejiu not charged.” Chen Duxiu on the “art revolution” And “realism” and “spirit of realism,” the idea of the May 4th Movement in the new culture of science, carry forward the spirit of democracy have had a profound impact. Chinese oil paintings in the development process, from time to time there are “local” and “outside,” the academic struggles and the “local” to the advent of Chinese oil paintings dating back over 2,000 years ago with Oil for painting pottery patterns. Academic issues can still explore. And the general sense, of “realism oil paintings and Chinese oil painting”, often starting in the cultural missionaries to preach. Of course, in recent years, there are writings discussed how the evolution of classical realist painting to contemporary “as a new” painting, which involves China should advance with the times realist painting of a problem.

Olympic – Part 4

There is only one country that will truly take home the gold in the stock market during this upcoming Olympics. The gold will come with an exchange of profits for China and all who are willing to invest in the Asian markets. Even though, I am only eyeing a few market places in this passage, industries that deal in healthcare, utilities, financials, basic materials and industrial goods should be avoided. For the simple reason that those markets will not be catering to as much to the tourist attraction involved with the Olympics. If you want to aim for the gold like many countries will be doing in the Olympic games then here’s an investment tip.
You might want to take your investment strategy to the market areas of Technology, Services, Consumer Goods, Media, Banking and Credit Industry. Since, those types of companies will be in use by tourists and the media all around China. These market investments should see a fast growth in sales and a high payout in revenues from all the tourist attraction and media scrutiny involved with hosting the Olympics. I do speculate those markets to do well but my main focus here will be in the industries of hotels, airlines, and communications companies. These types of companies will be in high demands by the tourism within during the Olympics, so before you start planning your trip for the Olympics, here are a few companies, which I believe will be the true winners in Beijing.
China Eastern Airline (CEA) and China Southern Airlines (ZNH) since they are two of China’s well established airlines. A hotel and accommodations service that might be a great investment is Home Inns and Hotels Management, Inc. (HMIN) that offers economic hotel management under the Home Inn’s brand. Although, before we can get great deal on either one we need to look into a Chinese company that is like Travelocity.com. So we can get you the best deal in both your flights and hotel during your investment tourism of the Olympics. Ctrip.com International Limited (CTRP) is a Chinese Travel and Tourism Company that provides package deals on hotels and flights through the Internet.
If you are looking the Internet so you can begin your trip to China for the Olympics then I have the right communication companies for your next investments. I recommend two Internet and Long Distance service providers, which will give you access to the Internet and provide the telephony communication needed so you can speak with your love ones back home. These two companies are China Telecom CP (CHA) and China Netcom Group (CN) which are currently trading under their 52 week high so expect a change within the next several of months in this and the other markets specified. If your decide to travel to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China this summer then you might want to remember that although you’ll be a long way from home your well planned travels might as well be a smart investment.
Feeling Beijing Olympics
Stay at the spot site and see things with one’s own eyes. That’s why tourists would like to visit Beijing during August for Olympic seasons. However, only part of the public can get the opportunity to view the stadiums and get the spot feelings.
Visas, airline tickets, and hotel bookings to Beijing are hard to get, much less to say the game entrance tickets. Suppose you are lucky enough to have obtained all these and arrived in Beijing already. You can take a taxi from airport to see the stadium directly. The taxi drivers, wearing the newly distributed yellow shirt and black tie, are trained to speak a little English like ‘Welcome’ and ‘Thanks’. As long as you show a picture of the Bird Nestle, s/he will know where you want to go.
Traffic rule in China is to drive on the right hand side. The light posts along major roads are decorated with skyscraper banners in different colors. The inner lane, painted with Olympic 5-circle logo, is devoted for the exclusive use of Olympic vehicles. Driving mistakenly on the lane by non-Olympic vehicles will be fine as much as RMB1800 (approx. $300). On the road, you will see other cars with labels in Odd (or Even) numbers depending on the calendar day number. Public transportation including taxi, buses and police are not restricted. The Odd-Even Rule is applicable from July 20 to Sept 20.
In case your taxi gets lost, it’s still easy to find the stadium by following the helicopter overhead. It’s noisy and circling around the stadiums. Seeing helicopters or hearing its noise tells you that you are about to arrive.
The central Olympic area locates in the north of Beijing, consisting of Nestle, Water Cubic, National Stadium, Main Press Center, Athletes Village and Olympic Park. All buildings are fenced for security reason. The most concerned ‘Bird’s Nestle’ (or ‘Niao Chao’ in Chinese pronunciation) and blue Water Cubic are isolated from the curious public with 2-meter high fence placed about 200 meters away from the buildings. So visitors can only look at them and take pictures of or with them from afar. Behind the fence are soldiers in green standing still in the little shade of umbrellas placed on the ground about 50 meters apart from each other. Policemen in blue and anti-riot policemen in black, together with their specially-trained dogs, are roaming outside the fence. All working staffs are wearing a rectangle ID label in orange and red, possibly sponsored by Kodak. Content in ID labels, as well as all direction boards, are printed in three languages: Chinese, English and French.
On the streets outside the fence, you will see the police cars back and forth with blinking blue and red lights on its roofs. Smiling young volunteers are standing in scattered sites, wearing sky blue T-shirt and silver-colored pants. Most of them are from universities. Their non-volunteer university classmates are enjoying an extraordinarily long summer vacation from July 1 till Sept 15.
The torch, designed by Lenovo and made by a space-tech firm, is under relay in different cities. The medals for winners, with jade embedded at the rear panel, are ready for awarding. Opening ceremony performance and fireworks show is under busy rehearsal. Delegations from different countries are arriving and checking into the Athletes Village to get adapted to the new environment.
Everything seems ready. If you are not able to visit Beijing, make sure to watch the live broadcast of the opening ceremony and game performance on TV, mobile or Internet.
